THE ART OF LIFE DRAWING
SATURDAY November 16th & SUNDAY 17th 2019
10-4pm, THE HUB, 13 River Rd Gympie
Have you ever wanted to do Life Drawing but weren't quite sure what goes on behind those closed doors?β¦
Or did you finally muster the courage AND all the materials, then attend a session only to find there was no tutor and everyone there seemed to know what they were doing but no one was telling?
Halina has been in both those situations and over the years of experience in drawing from life she has now heard many people say they wished there was a teacher. Very often during a Life Drawing session she has been asked 'How did you do that?' So she decided to put it all together in a fun, brain changing two days!
Life Drawing is one of the best tools for learning observation. Halina has designed a two day workshop that teaches many observation skills, with a drawing implement in your hand.
There is not just one, or 'right' way of representing the human body in an artistic manner. Your own creative style of representation will emerge and develop after learning basic, thorough observation and drawing skills, using a variety of mediums.
In the two days you will learn the use of line and tone. Shapes emerge with blind contour, semi blind contour, continuous, investigative, and variable line drawing. Fun exercises train your brain to gradually see differently. Using charcoal, conte, graphite and ink to show different tones, shadows and negative shapes, you will work at finding and placing only the darks and then learn to 'take out' to amplify the lights.
We end the two days with a live model for two hours using the format of a typical life drawing session, but with instruction and guidance.
Through the process you learn βto draw what you see, not what you think you see'.
Come and change your brain!
